Pinterest vs Facebook for Traffic

When it comes to finding traffic streams that can replace your reliance on Google, without a doubt Pinterest and Facebook are my favorites.

Pinterest is easiest to start with if you have no budget, but it takes a few months to start seeing the results of your pinning efforts.

Facebook is great if you've got money to spend on ads as you grow your audience. For the most part, I think you can do this well for $2,000 or less all in. The time to good results really just depends on your spending.

Of course, you also gotta create content for social instead of for SEO. Jamie I.F''s new QuizWizard tool is perfect for Facebook.

My Experiment

I happen to have a site in the gardening niche, which is one of those niches that does REALLY well on Pinterest AND Facebook.

This side did not get de-indexed, but it did take a bit of a beating in the updates.

And I've been totally lazy and not done either Pinterest or Facebook for this site.

So, I'm going to start doing that and keeping you updated on how it's going each month. We'll look at how I'm doing things, what kind of time I'm putting in, how creating content for social is different than for SEO, tools that I'm using (Jamie I.F''s new QuizWizard tool for Facebook), what I'm spending, and what kind of results I'm seeing.

Keep an eye out for that here, as well as on the blog and my YouTube channel.

My question for you in regards to the Pinterest part of this case study - would you rather see me doing it myself (please say no), or have the Growth Cupid team run with the strategy.
