🥰😍🥰 Heart-Shaped Pizzas

As a marketer, I've always been interested in how "real" businesses do their marketing.

Even when they're not in my niche.

And one of the weirdest things that I've seen that works are those heart-shaped pizzas that appear this time every year.

The reason I think it's weird that it works so well for pizza places is that you get less pizza when it's in that heart shape.

Like, why do people buy those? It's a terrible deal.

What's crazy is how you can market to people around seasonal topics.

If you're not finding ways to do seasonal content for your site, then you are missing out on a traffic gravy train.

In fact, I've got a site where I'm targeting seasonal stuff every month and it's keeping the site traffic around 200K pageviews every single month.

It just works so damn well.

And the bonus is that the same topics do amazing well on the socials. You can promote that Pinterest pin, or that Facebook post and get even MORE traffic to your site.

I haven't tested it on YouTube yet, but I think you'll likely see similar results.

But enough about seasonal content.

Have you seen the latest Authority Hacker podcast on 7 sites that survived HCU? Until watching that, every single HCU site I'd looked at that was hit had the same pattern -- a lower Trust Flow than Citation Flow (in Majestic) -- but these seven sites totally go against that trend.

So, my only theory that's left regarding HCU-hit domains is the winners are crazy niched down. Think tents instead of all things camping.

But I really have no clue about what's going on. I mean, I still thinks backlinks are playing a big part in this whole thing. Cause it's always backlinks.

Speaking of backlinks, I have two more things before I go -

  • Growth Cupid sale for Valentine's Day (through Saturday) - save 14% with code VALENTINE (even on credits)
  • We've moved out of beta and launched our newest services.

And that's it for me.

Stay awesome,

Shawna

P.S. I've been testing out some of the newer features in Cuppa for AI content creation, and WOW, check it out if you haven't lately. The Power User upgrade is really nice. Though Koala is still the 🐐 for buying guides.

Some links are affiliate links. I 💖 you if you use one!

A year ago, I was firmly in the "I hate AI content" camp and it wasn't until a few months into 2023 that I accepted that it was time for me to change my views. My undergrad degree is in English and Journalism, so it's easy to see why that was my initial view. Truthfully, I still don't love AI content. But it doesn't really matter how I feel about it. Because SEO and growing niche sites doesn't have shit to do with emotions or feelings. It's about being willing to adapt and pivot to what's...
